Back for a second year of support to find, nurture and champion the best of Britain’s future footwear talent is the Charlotte Olympia Scholarship programme in conjunction with Cordwainers and the British Fashion Council Education Foundation.
The first dedicated footwear scholarship to be offered by such an internationally recognised and established luxury brand as Charlotte Olympia, first-year students from the renowned college will strive to impress a new panel line-up of industry leaders and judges: Olympia will be joined by American Vogue contributing editor and British Fashion Council Ambassador Sarah Mower; Matchesfashion.com’s Ruth Chapman; creative fashion consultant Robert Forrest; Judith Rosser-Davies, Head of Government Relations & Education at the British Fashion Council, and WWD’s Samantha Conti. A paid internship at Charlotte Olympia plus funds covered for the remaining three years of the four-year BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design Innovation course make for a highly prestigious scholarship prize.
Known for her signature sense of fun and glamour, Charlotte Olympia herself graduated from Cordwainers and so the continuation of this collaboration makes for the perfect full circle: one talent working to find another.
“Sara McMullen is a student dedicated to her course. She has a great talent and sensibility for footwear design, alongside a broad skill set to further develop her craft. I’m excited to see how she progresses throughout her degree.” - Charlotte Olympia Dellal
Charlotte Olympia launched her brand in 2008 and has since gone on to open stores across the world including London, Hong Kong, Dubai and America. Charlotte Olympia won Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2015.
