DYLAN JONES SPEECH NOTES

Good Morning Everyone

Welcome to the 12th edition London Fashion Week Men’s.

London is one of the most culturally rich cities on the planet, with world-class institutions and globally renowned talent, and London Fashion Week Men’s pays homage to the ever expanding creativity of our capital by bringing together the most talented individuals and innovative brands in the fashion industry.

This season we continue our celebration of discovery and the creative diversity that has made London THE international hub for menswear; the schedule represents over 50 designer businesses, while our International guests have travelled from over 45 countries.

From British heritage to emerging labels and vibrant street-wear brands, London Fashion Week Men’s looks at the zeitgeist, merging the landscapes of technology, fashion, art and performance. The schedule has been packed full of catwalk shows, experiential activations, pop up shops and performances from alternative hip hop to classic tailoring; alongside collections from international design houses and award winning British designers.

This morning were are here to celebrate some of the brightest stars in our industry, our NEWGEN designers –

A-COLD WALL*, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY, Kiko Kostadinov, Liam Hodges, Nicholas Daley, Per Götesson, Phoebe English, Wales Bonner, BIANCA SAUNDERS AND paria /FARZANEH

I am delighted to be hosting this breakfast with a man who has 46.4 Million Instagram followers (in fact it’s probably already gone up this morning) and is one of the most famous faces on the planet, David Beckham.

David already has a huge fashion profile, not least with Kent & Curwen, but we were recently thrilled when he agreed to become the Ambassadorial President of the British Fashion Council, in a role designed to raise the profile of emerging British fashion talent on the global stage AND help the BFC engage young talent from all backgrounds, into the fashion industry.

And the industry we refer to is one of enormous impact to our economy, the British Fashion Industry continues to outstrip the national average growth figure and directly contributes £29.7 Billion to UK GDP and employs 850,000 people; with the menswear market accounting for 26% of the total clothing market and menswear sales outperforming womenswear!

Finally I want to thank our sponsors as well as our international audience of global media, retailers, industry creatives, collaborators, brands and businesses from China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, the US and UK, all of whom help make London Fashion Week Men’s such an international platform.

Thank you all for coming, and please enjoy the last day of LFWM.
