My graduate collection 'Metamorphosis in dreams' draws inspiration from my personal experience of anxiety and panics about self-existence and how they turned into “goblin” creatures in my dreams, which always visually reflect one’s unconscious mind. I researched Freud’s theories on dream interpretation, surrealist paintings and films, such as Die Nacht by Ferdinand Hodler and Hitchhock’s Vertigo. The design outcomes integrate hand-drawn prints and sculptural silhouettes with subtle criss-cross knits that hints the deepest fear veiled under my dreams. It is a narrative story, beginning from the night shadows casting through the windows to the protagonist being trapped in the endless loop of sleeping paralysis embed with trauma. Most materials used for my collection are upcycled from MYB textiles and dyed into desired colours.
