Maisie Bullock, a 2024 graduate from Leeds Arts University, is a designer specialising in womenswear and print. She integrates technical software such as Clo3D and Illustrator into her collections. Bullock’s graduate collection, ‘Beyond the Gaze’, is lively and spirited, exuding feminine empowerment in a glamorous and intimate context. Comforting the feminine gaze, instead of embracing the ever-present male gaze, which we see so frequently considered within the fashion industry. Inspired initially by showgirl costumes, particularly Burlesque, ‘Beyond the Gaze’ combines this artistry with twentieth century lingerie design, generating a contemporary collection which tastefully and alluringly reflects its influences. The bold colour palette of chartreuse green and deep rose combined with the cyanotype print adds visual impact to the collection.
