Mirroring the 1970’s financial crisis, the current cost of living crisis has created a desire - the desire to escape reality. As Glam Rock was utilised as a form of individualised escapism in the 1970’s, I have centred my project around the visualisation of a contemporary rendition; one for modern audiences. My collection draws inspiration from rock goliaths such as David Bowie, Marc Bolan and Brian Eno evoking a contemporary rendition through knit. Using lurex cuff trimmings and curly wool tops, I have created a collection of swatches and garments that reflect the design glitz of that period. Styling and photography have played an integral part of my practice, ensuring a 70’s design ethos is conveyed.
