The weird and the wonderful has always piqued my interest especially subjects on the morbid side. Through my work I wanted to show how something historically considered disturbing or unsettling could have its perception changed to something beautiful. I was inspired by the art of preserving the dead and the care that is often shown to the deceased which led to an interest in dissection. In my studio practice I have been using fabric manipulation to make samples that are inspired by textures and patters found within organic tissue. I want my collection to communicate my morbid curiosity subtly through something beautiful.
