Caitlin Raymond is a womenswear designer who focuses on a textural outlet to explore modern perceptions of femininity. In her latest collection, ‘She Walks in Beauty’ she is creating a knitwear heavy collection that explores the relationship between tailoring and knitwear experimenting with sheerness and knitted structures. The collection has a hyper- feminine aesthetic seeking to reclaim many of the stereotypes used to undermine women in the past. Inspired by artists such as Tracey Emin, and films such as Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, the sugary sweet aesthetic of this collection seeks to ooze beauty and delicacy. Shades of pink and gold adorn delicate and fluid structures with a view to creating a light airy collection. The collection explores the subtleties of femininity as well as Caitlin’s own girlhood and connection to the stereotypes she grew up with.
