'Mi Ángel de la Guarda' is based around my grandmother, our memories together and her life story. Her passing earlier this year left a big void in my life and somehow, I wanted this project to reflect all those details and memories that I am scared to forget or bury too deep. Each look represents a different moment or place that is very personal to us, such as the seaside by the Mediterranean, our daily evening coffee and her wedding day. I have always felt the urge to reference and represent my roots and the environment I grew up with ever since I started my creative journey. I am a deeply nostalgic person, I find comfort in old memories but also all those details and elements you can find around the places I grew up in. During the research process and making of this collection I have enjoyed upcycling vintage tablecloths, doilies and other significant pieces that can be found in people's homes and other details such as wedding garters and catholic charms. As well as using fabrics and shapes that I often saw at home around my grandmother's wardrobe. All those things have always brought me closer to my relatives and memories back in Spain.
