I am a level-headed and dynamic UAL Masters graduate with a passion for innovation and hands-on design. Experience across various industries has sculpted the development of valuable, adaptable skills that continually enhance my design practice. This diverse background introduces a unique perspective to the fashion and design sectors, promoting innovative and thoughtful solutions. Insights from working as a painter and decorator revealed how colleagues and I hacked and modified our clothing to improve functionality, comfort, aesthetics, and longevity. These observations, defined as 'shortcuts,' became the foundation of a unique design mindset, fuelling the creative process. Guided by a manifesto of Integrity, Innovation, Slow, and Local, my design practice emphasises innovation and resourcefulness. Fabric is sourced from a local recycling initiative, zero-waste pattern-cutting techniques derived from photogrammetry are employed, and inventive material sourcing means nearly all sampling and prototyping is cost free. These are just some examples of how I am constantly pushing my own boundaries: not only trying to better my practice but to perpetually learn and develop. Using unorthodox and innovative materials from my personal life results in garments that are visibly unique and rich with meaning. These materials evoke nostalgia and invite wearers and viewers to reflect on their own relationships with the garments and materials. This thought-provoking approach forms the basis of my practice and what I want the clothes to convey.
