‘Faileas: The Hands My Mother Gave me’ is a love letter to Scotland. It is a celebration of the generational traditions that define my heritage. I have returned to natural materials and century old processes to create historically informed textiles. These robust structures have been translated into contemporary silhouettes inspired by the dramatic Highland Landscape. This project began as an ode to the work Scottish women have done for textiles. However, it has transcended into a complete immersion into a highland scenescape. Delicate silks seamlessly flowing through rugged raw fleece. Faileas is a part of our landscape. It is powerful, unpredictable but above all captivatingly romantic.
