I am a British Indian Fashion Designer based in London. I grew up in Brighton and believe the city and its people had an impact on who I am today. My inspiration as a designer is creating wearable designer activewear that embodies streetwear. 90s cultures. as well as Sikhism and Indian culture. Throughout my collections I have used jersey to give the activewear feel. One of the reasons why I love streetwear is that is doesn't hold a gender and throughout my collection this has been important as the clothes remain umsex. Culture is everything to me growing up in a society where it wasn't always visible. It has played a big role in my life through my mum and ancestors. However. I have also grown up finding my own culture in streetwear. going to meets and drops to get the latest garments and always wanting to design my own clothes from a young age. Through this collection. I indulge in creating streetwear garments. incorporating Indian culture and religion. Each garment having a unique part relating back to Sikhism. Gold plays a major part of Indian culture because it is a place to secure your assets and is seen as a protector of evil. I have relayed this into my collection with symbols of gold throughout. Taking every day streetwear items such as hoodies and shorts and recreating them into usable garments. These garments are designed to be worn from couture or around the streets of London. This ideology of multi-functional garments is how I fashion myself and this style is expressed in my designs. This collection holds my story and shares it with others. To make the sometimes invisible. visible and bridge the step into high end activewear.
