This project was inspired by a Chinese custom that ended 100 years ago, Foot-Binding. The essence of this behaviour is the oppression of women in a patriarchal society. From this, I researched different exhibitions on feminism and feminist artworks created by female artists. The pain of pregnancy seems to be something that women have to endure. In many countries, a woman must get married, get pregnant, and have children, something she is forced to go through by social pressure. Even without foot-binding, many women still been "Binding". They do not have full control over their bodies or lives. I'm inspired by the artwork of many female artists that represent the female body and the suffering that women go through with their bodies. For example, I use elements of the female reproductive system, the traditional cultural "fertility knot" and so on. In terms of colors, I chose bright colors and grey with a strong contrast effect. For the fabric, I used a combination of hard leather and soft crochet. I like to use elements with a strong sense of contrast in my designs. I also like to try new things that I never did before. This way keeps me always have a great passion and interest in fashion design, and each collection is a new experience. As a designer, my design philosophy is to make clothing better service people. I believe that a garment is useless if it is only beautiful in itself. It needs to make the wearer more Charming, which highlights the wearer's advantages, where the clothes and the person fulfil each other to achieve perfection. In the end, I hope my designs will let the wearer show her body better and make her love her body more.
