I take heavy inspiration from a variety of spiritual traditions, most notably zen. This, alongside my goal of reducing the waste in my designs as much as possible, has inspired me to create clothing which will age beautifully through experimentation with deconstruction, sustainable methods of repair and natural dyeing methods. Experimental pattern cutting is another core element of my work focusing on the space between the wearer and garment, by playing with structures and large imposing shapes. I combine these larger silhouettes with smaller and more traditionally feminine detailing in an exploration of modern ideas of masculine beauty, which is an area that interests me deeply.

I create art that forces society to face its own reflection—the destruction we call ‘innovation.’ My work is not pessimistic, but is a declaration of absolute truth. As a fashion designer, graphic designer, video editor, and writer, I unravel the deep injustices that define our world, the commodification in humiliating female bodies for the entertainment of the “Male Gaze” in pornography, the centralisation of omnipotent power being given to corrupt politicians who don’t care about us, the dark and twisted fantasies of men revered by the masses, their faces familiar but their sins hidden, forced onto the innocent, yet ambitious women of the world who just want to enrich society. Through the lens of race, gender, and class, I confront the systems that thrive on exploitation, and trauma. My art doesn’t just provoke; it demands that we see the world as it truly is and challenges us to change it, without trying to throw euphemisms everywhere for the sake of temporary happiness. Growing up and seeing women suffer from being pimped out, to seeing children holding guns in my neighbourhood, I have seen enough to inspire me to try to stop the violent bleeding of man through art.

My design aesthetic embraces my Ghanaian roots while incorporating oversized yet feminine menswear silhouettes. I am inspired by the diverse cultures and traditional craftsmanship within Ghana. This style blends with the structural elements of oversized menswear. I have just completed my first year of university, and I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to build on my identity as a designer during my BA course. Fashion’s strong connection to our physicality and its role as a form of external communication resonates deeply with me. Through my personal experience in school, I learnt that fashion was a language my peers used to find a way to belong. I moved from a school where I felt comfortable and familiar with my environment to a new and unfamiliar school to pursue textiles. This was a turning point for me. These circumstances taught me that we grow by moving away from what we are comfortable with and learning to adapt to new environments. This lesson continues to motivate me as I embark on my BA course while celebrating individuality and embracing cultural pride.

I am a multidisciplinary artist with a rich tapestry of seven years in the fashion industry: a curator, creative producer, Modern Artisan, fashion and accessories designer. Following my graduation, I unveiled a revolutionary luxury sustainable capsule collection on Net-A-Porter in an esteemed collaboration with YNAP and the Kings Foundation. I am an advocate for cultural sustainability and aim to innovate solutions for textiles waste in West Africa. Blending Afrofuturism with my Nigerian-British identity, the collections tell unique stories, drawing from my textiles and fine art background. One of these narratives had a fashion film screening at the V&A for the African Fashion Exhibition and recently a runway show at the Victoria and Albert Museum, supported by GUAP magazine and My Runway Group, the show was a manifestation of my creative prowess and collaborative spirit. I am committed to sustainability, creating futuristic designs using recycled materials, extending to my brand, praised for redefining the 'it' bag. and honoured as one of the "31 cool British brands" by Who What Wear. I am influenced by traditional craftsmanship, the vibrant essence of London and Nigerian culture, pushing boundaries in design and sustainability, carving a path as a visionary force in the industry.

Palestinian fashion design student Ayham Hassan explores in his work a critical and analytical lens into his upbringing in Palestine. He aims to transform and re-design his reality by challenging it through fashion, concentrating on exploring conceptual research inspired by social life customs in his city and exploring craftsmanship in Palestine by challenging it through movement and storytelling reflecting tailorship, textiles, and draping while working closely with artisans in the local industry. A raw, primal, visceral, and earthy aesthetic reflects how he grew up under Israeli military occupation, which made him realize that fashion is so much more than just a dress or form of expression. It is a sensual, painful, and violent means of protection, sometimes from society but always from military occupation. He believes design to be a source of power and improvement and a means of manifesting a better world. His work disrupts the fabric of constructed life and encourages people to confront concerns in Arab and Palestinian communities.

BAMI is a British Nigerian designer whose work focuses on her engagement with fantasy, her family and her upbringing as both a British citizen and young black woman. She often explores superstitious symbolism and Nigerian folklore. She is inspired by the kitsch items she collects and her endless hobbies outside of fashion. It's the colours and textures of the world she lives in, the communities she belongs to and the beauty of the people she encounters that feed directly into her work. Prior to her starting a Bachelors in Fashion Design Print at Central Saint Martins, she attended the CSM Foundation in Art and Design.

Ben is a British fashion designer of Caribbean heritage. His work focuses on queer ideology, class dynamics and technology. Ben graduated with a BA in Fashion at the Manchester Fashion Institute and is currently undertaking his MA at Central Saint Martins. He was born and raised in Manchester (A Northerner) in one of Britain's largest council estates - inspiring him to research deeper into wealth inequality, mental health and systems of power. Ben pulls inspiration from his network of Queer friends and chosen family. Surrounded by alternative expressions of gender and sexuality has inspired him to investigate the purpose of masculine presentation in the context of queer culture. Ben has completed internships for Sampaix Studio and Mowalola. Ben also has freelance experience as a digital garment designer utilising software such as Clo3D and Blender - this has become an integral tool for his design process. How our digital and physical worlds interact in the medium of fashion will be explored further during his MA.

Within my work I utilise my Black British heritage as a form of agency, exploring the shared experience of the Black community in London, as a form of self expression and connection to my culture. In relating the past to the present, my work aims to encapsulate the essence of what it is to live the experience of the Black British community, shedding light on, expressing and celebrating the ever present culture that’s cultivated within London. With a strong focus on perfecting the craft of hair as textile, symbolism becomes important within the depth of my body of work. Hair, having a rich history within Blackness, harnesses the communication of the narratives I explore; I aim to continue investigating the breadth of this materiality. Moving forward I aspire to further introduce my background as a contemporary dancer, through the art of fashion film, stimulating an experience for my work to lie within.

My creative practice reflects an integrated approach to fashion, combining community, sustainability, and my Finno-Ugric upbringing. Influenced by my mother’s coastal roots and my father’s Hungarian background, I commit to modern menswear by blending traditional techniques with digital craftsmanship while addressing the environmental impact of extreme sports. I balance technical expertise with a focus on functionality and eco-conscious practices, exploring connections between urban life and nature through scientific study. My collections bring these elements together and draw inspiration from my personal interests in motor racing and alpine sports. Recognizing the need for change, I launched ZVERKO, a brand promoting environmentally conscious approaches in commercial sports. My goal is to inspire athletes and enthusiasts with eco-friendly strategies while developing safety innovations in wearable garments. Unique equipment, uniforms, and branded sponsorships inform my designs, especially in prints and product ranges. I also draw inspiration from diverse professions, such as land surveyors and volcanologists, as well as the life cycles of insects in biodomes, blending technical precision with natural inspiration.

I am Geraint Brian Lewis, a creative practitioner from Fleur-de-Lys, a small town in the South Wales valleys. Growing up in this unique landscape has deeply influenced my creative approach, and I’m passionate about weaving the rich identity of Wales into my work. I graduated in 2016 with a BA in Fashion Design from the University of South Wales, where I developed a solid foundation in menswear, with a particular focus on tailoring and draping techniques. This background continues to shape my work today. Currently, I’m pursuing an MA in Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear) at the London College of Fashion, where I’m expanding my creative horizons. My work delves into how human behaviour and trauma influence the creative process, and I use fashion as a medium to explore these complex emotional landscapes. I find fashion to be a powerful tool for storytelling and self-expression, and I aim to push boundaries by integrating both personal and cultural narratives into my designs.

Growing up in a small Scottish town as a young Chinese girl, I found it difficult to accept who I was. I struggled with coming to terms with my identity as there was a huge cultural difference between myself and my peers. With that being said, within my studio practice, I thoroughly explore, shape, and articulate my cultural identity, and my designs are closely linked to my cross-cultural differences. I explore my Hong Kong heritage, drawing inspiration from the silhouettes of the symbolic objects from my upbringing and I incorporate traditional handcrafted knotting techniques within my designs. In my ‘BIFORM’ collection, I celebrate the cross between my Scottish nationality and my Chinese heritage. In doing so, I integrate remade Scottish tartan textiles with garment details from historic Chinese dress. I exhibit what Scotland means to me by focusing on technical garments engineered for the great landscapes of the Scottish outdoors. This journey that I have taken through the exploration and celebration of tradition has deepened my relationship with my identity, allowing me to weave my conceptual ideologies into my work.

Growing up in Newcastle formed me into a resourceful, intuitive and imaginative artist with a drive to simply do more. I often had a powerful sense of feeling like there is more to life outside my bubble and felt that I must break the cycle of the mundane and traditional norms that encompassed me. However, I am inspired by the beauty of normality and interested in expressing my interpretations of normal people and normal things because that is the reality that has always surrounded me. I struggle to accept the way that the industry works, and don’t believe it has to stay this way. It is important to represent the everyday people of the world and unfortunately, the working class aren’t represented at all in the fashion industry. I want the creatives that I grew up with to be seen. My research revolves around the experiences I’ve had, whether that is from sitting in the stands with 50,000 other Newcastle fans at the football, or my life living with chronic illness, or general experiences growing up in a working class area. As an artist, I provide an outlook onto the world that isn’t yet represented in the fashion world.

Megan Alloh’s work revolves around exploring British culture through the eyes of a first-generation Ghanaian immigrant. By examining the dynamic culture that exists within her identity, Megan delves into the unease and otherness that resides within it. Each project serves as a response to various questions which she has had since her childhood; at times focusing on her upbringing, and other times addressing her identity. Despite being a fashion knitwear student, Megan creates work without a specific figure in mind. Rather, she experiments with materials such as clay, Modroc, and silicone. By doing this, she creates wearable artwork. Storytelling is a key part of her creative practice, regularly addressing sensitive topics, whilst presenting her work in a way which makes it digestible for a wider audience. Issues not only within the fashion industry, but those present in society we live in.

I was born and raised in a small village in the south of England where there weren't many resources surrounding the arts. I was inspired to create from the women in my family, whom I was named after. My aunt, Jacqueline Duffin, who was a talented artist and was taken too soon from the world. I use my middle name and my mother’s maiden name to promote my work and to bring my aunt's name into the industry. Throughout my educational journey in fashion I also studied Fine Art up until my foundation year. This allowed me to develop a more explorative and imaginative approach to design. I took a great interest in the production of sustainable materials where I melted recycled plastics down and also grew fabric from organisms. Since starting my BA I have focused my interests into creating structurally adaptive clothing which is still strongly based around sustainability, through its interchangeable nature. I am looking forward to exploring these concepts further and linking it back to my past interest in textile development.

A previous graduate of the BA Fashion Design with Marketing course at Central St Martins in 2022. In the two years since graduating, Oli Clarke has worked on the design team for womenswear runway at Burberry for the first collection under Daniel Lee, followed by the RTW design team at Phoebe Philo, also during the release of her first collection. Prior to working in fashion, he worked in costume on large scale film productions for both Marvel and Disney at Pinewood Studios. His work Is interested in re-contextualising commodities of past cultures through techniques of Bricolage. Bringing together historical costume and artefacts, as well as a large personal collection of found objects and materials, to create poetic narratives. Subverting these historical references and reinterpreting them in a modern framework to engage in new conversation, drawing parallels between past and contemporary society. Currently alongside the Masters course at Central St Martins, he works at Spitalfields market in London, a strong source of inspiration and context to his work, through the objects he collects as artefacts of inspiration and the relationships he has with others visiting and working at the market.

Renée-Shanel Edwards is a first generation British-Jamaican designer, who is influenced by their lived experience growing up in North West London. Renée’s Final Year BA collection ‘Closure’, explores Postmodernist theory in the context of ‘Blackness’. “There is no one way to be Black, but Black identities post trauma have caused a resurgence of ‘safe’ and familiar style codes that connect past experiences to how we present today.” They focus on cut and texture to explore the nuances of Black masculinity and to highlight the beauty of their Caribbean experience. Renée-Shanel is also 1 of the 4 recipients of the 2024 BFC X Net-A-Porter X Mr Porter Vanguard prize.

Habitually visiting India as a child I observed the stark contrast between my hometown Sunderland and Mumbai. The differences in culture, customs and clothes allowed me to garner a greater understanding of myself and the world around me - which is reflected throughout my practice. Currently, my work is an amalgamation of heritage, history and queer identity, as well as lots of student resourcefulness. However, as I learn more about myself, my craft and as my interests grow my work will also evolve.

Immigrating from the Philippines to the UK, I grew up with two different cultures which harmonised into one. The forefront of my work is to bring elegance within my Asian-British diaspora and how being working class has shaped the way I look at clothing. Being queer and non-binary has also influenced how I look at masculinity while studying Menswear. it has allowed me to disrupt the meanings of gender and how I can break down the colonial, binary constructions of traditional clothing. All these themes merge into my identity, which plays a massive role in how I design. I want to tell my story and experiences through my work and create capsules of my history with the clothes I make. Inspired by things like pre-colonial futurism, my Christian upbringing and my queerness, I enjoy documenting my thought process while exploring these themes and being able to deconstruct the way I look at them. I dream of freedom and fluidity through my queer Filipino identity and being able to create a community with my work.

I grew up in my mother's tailoring shop in a small town in Sardinia, where she taught me to sew, first by hand and then with a machine. She showed me how to recognise different materials and, most importantly, to respect clothing. Since childhood, I dreamt of following in her footsteps, but financial constraints kept me from studying fashion. After a few years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, I left for England, hoping to pursue fashion someday. After ten years of hard work, the University of Brighton offered me a place on the fashion course. Over the years, I've reflected on my roots and what kind of designer I aspire to become. My artistic language finds expression through second-hand and waste materials, exploring the deep connection between the wearer and their clothes. Since my first year, I've questioned how garments can absorb fragments of the wearer's life, capturing moments forever in their fibres and seams. For my final project, I delved into this concept further, using materials to explore women's heritage and the stories passed down through generations. I imagine an invisible thread that runs through time and connects all women through an intergenerational transmission of memories

Taya Francis is a knitwear designer and all-around creative mind based in Nottingham, UK. She is the founder of Knit & Ting, a bespoke knitwear project born as a way to explore her Jamaican heritage while creating high-quality pieces with an emphasis on craftsmanship and artisanal manufacturing. Born and raised in Nottingham, Taya moved to London in 2014 to study Fashion Textile Design at Middlesex University where she specialised in Knitwear. While there, she learned the ropes of yarn manipulation under Katie Jones at her eponymous brand and Tomoko Yamanaka of Cabinet. With a special focus on sustainability and slow production, Taya’s experience extends far beyond knitting. Over the course of the past five years, she has flexed her creative muscles developing custom projects for Clarks Originals, curating a Boiler Room event in her native city and collaborating with Wales Bonner on a jumper for their AW22 ‘Togetherness’ collection. Her brand Knit & Ting has appeared on various international publications such as Highsnobiety and Sicky Magazine.

Timisola Shasanya

The premise of my work surrounds itself around textiles and cutting techniques that intersect the principles of bespoke menswear and fluidity of traditional Nigerian textile techniques. I have a way of working with material through spiritual and traditional practice, particularly with dyeing processes, and experimenting with unorthodox materials which inevitably allows me to experiment with distortion and wearability. Furthermore, I use my sensitivity to research and ability to source material as a way to collate knowledge within the wider world into a single garment. I tend to produce work under a process of techniques and aim to consistently challenge myself within each project.

Growing up in the UK within a working-class family, my background has deeply shaped my approach to both life and my work. Immersed in lad culture, I’ve always been inspired by its tongue-in-cheek, humorous attitude, which I instinctively incorporate into my creative expression. This playful, often cheeky, outlook allows me to challenge traditional themes around masculinity and class, pushing boundaries in a way that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. My work aims to redefine masculinity, exploring how it can be more sensitive and playful while still retaining its essence. Ultimately, I seek to break stereotypes and create a more nuanced vision of the modern man.

Yodea's distinctive journey is deeply rooted in Caribbean ancestral practices. They use art as a medium to delve into personal experiences. Their Jamaican heritage and inner-city London upbringing form a vital foundation for their creative practice, enriching their work with depth and authenticity and making their creations resonate with unique cultural significance. Having recently graduated from Central Saint Martins's BA Menswear program, Yodea gained invaluable experience working on the 2024 Artisanal Collection at Maison Margiela under John Galliano. Immediately following this, they showcased their collection, closing the Central Saint Martins BA Fashion 2024 press show—with the support of the British Fashion Council and Lee Alexander McQueen Sarabande Scholarships, which enabled Yodea to complete their degree while focusing on their creative vision. Now embarking on the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, Yodea's practice is marked by a distinctive approach that deeply intertwines craftsmanship and spiritual exploration. Their work harmoniously blends traditional techniques with innovative methods, utilising native plant dyes and animistic influences. By repurposing found objects and reusing materials, Yodea infuses sustainability into their creations, adding depth and meaning. Rooted in their heritage and shaped by London's dynamic environment, Yodea's designs profoundly reflect their unique identity and purpose.

I am an Iraqi-Canadian designer, based and raised in the UK. My design aesthetic is influenced by nostalgia and self expression. I enjoy exploring with shape and silhouette taking you to a whimsical fantasy world. I am inspired by Middle Eastern pop music, as well as historical garments from museum archives. I apply my culture into my work whenever possible and a version of myself as a hijabi Muslim women when creating.

Adam Elyassé is a Designer/Artist addressing an interdisciplinary approach with a background in art, pattern cutting, anatomy and basketball. Recently graduating with an MA in Fashion at Central Saint Martins, He is the recipient of the Dior Man BFC scholarship and the Theory New York Scholarship Award. Born and raised in East London with a strong connection to his ethnic background in Southern Morocco, his work is a modular conversation of dual identity in the diaspora of African and multi-cultural British heritage.

Alba Mas

Alba Mas is a German fashion designer based in London. Her work evolves around the relationship between body and object, focusing on transformation, feeling and disconnection. Exploring ideas of being both personal and detached are fundamental to her practise, combining it with her own experiences of spending half of her time on BA confined to hospital getting blood cancer treatment. Her designs reflect the process of adapting to sudden changes in physical abilities, which she explores through draping, experimental cutting and collaging. Using her work as a way to communicate those circumstances, it shows a more conceptual interpretation of fashion. With the support of the British Fashion Council, Alba is doing her final year at Central Saint Martins alongside her treatment, while working towards creating space for a more inclusive fashion industry for designers with disabilities.

Born and raised in South Manchester, the impact of growing up as a “gay boy” on a council estate has forced me to have a somewhat pessimistic masculinity. Culture resists masculine reformation, but I've come to understand that resistance is inevitable, much like the currents of political change. Yet, just as a shrewd government employs cultural interests to sway public opinion, I too have found that by championing the preservation of masculinity in a novel light, I can subtly move towards a more inclusive existence. Coaxing the masculine into embracing a touch of softness, starting with a joke about a suit.

“I want to create something that exists outside the constraints of time and embraces fluidity in every aspect. As a non-binary designer, my work carves a new vision of menswear through a queer lens by celebrating strength in otherness. Growing up in the North-East of England, in a working-class community and attending Catholic school, I often felt at-odds with my identity. I have always been fascinated by the construct of gender, and this has greatly influenced my journey as a designer and continues to inform my work in many ways. Focused on the intersection of class and gender, my collection interrogates traditional forms of craftmanship, such as leathercraft and tailoring, to create timeless pieces from a new point of view.” Alexander Neil grew up in Durham, a mining town in the North-East of England and graduated from BA Fashion Design and Marketing at Northumbria University in 2020, along with completing a year-long placement at Tommy Hilfiger in Amsterdam. Their final collection film was selected as a finalist at the Aesthetica Film Festival. Graduating from LCF in 2023, Alexander will show their MA Final collection in February and begin the journey of entering the fashion industry as an independent designer.

Alonso Gaytan born in Mexico City, she is a London-based fashion designer, who dedicates a huge part of her work to decolonizing contemporary culture, especially through the lens of the media. Her work involves fighting against the normative ideas of womanhood while deconstructing through political fashion the traditional and classic systems in which we live. During her years living abroad, the designer realized the constant fetishization, exoticisation and invisibility of Latinx women, which has inspired her to pursue an agenda to empower Latinx while changing misconceptions of her own culture. Her work has been published in magazines such as Vogue Italia, Vogue Portugal, British Vogue, System Magazine, L’Officiel Mexico, Numéro Netherlands and others. Her latest adventure involves the exploration of compostable garments connecting to the cycle of human life, while reflecting in a virtual self living on the digital realm.

Anastasiia Halushko is a UK-based fashion designer of the Ukrainian origin who draws her inspiration from history, the identity of the past centuries; consequently, she discovered something new and started working with vintage materials, namely buttons, hand embroidery and non-standard vintage combinations in modern design which she demonstrated in all of her works. The revival of the high fashion of past centuries, inclusiveness, naturalness, traditions, other life - all this combines and reveals the motives of her collections. The complexity of forms as well as constructions, variety of textures, use of recycled natural materials, draping, reflection are her ideology, whilst creating collections. The main attention is paid to hand embroidery with the use of vintage materials, namely buttons which act as iconic elements of Anastasiia’s works. Her works were published in such magazines as VOGUE (Italia), L’OFFICIEl (Ukraine), KALTBLUT (Berlin), ROIDX (France). Among the Ukrainian stars who wore her outfits were TAYANA, Jerry Heil, YURINA and WELLBOY. The philosophy which she adheres to is the diversity of boundaries, the old and the new, to create a unique, unrepeatable design

Angelica Ellis is a multidisciplinary artist who specialises in fashion design and hand embroidery. She graduated from central saint martins BA fashion Print 2021. Ellis acquired her hand embroidery skills while interning at Chanel’s métier d’art: Maison Lemarié and Atelier Lebuisson in paris. Within Ellis' current methods she collects and transforms waste material into embellishment for embroidery. For her MA at Royal college of art Ellis has explored creating bio sequins and bio material for new embroidery embellishments and is testing how these materials can aid in creating a different aesthetic. Ellis is researching the importance of aesthetics and how this can be used to explore the artistic potential marginalised bodies. Ellis practises resourcefulness by creating from items that are around me. She practises slow fashion, small and handmade and wants to be a part of a growing movement designers using creativity as a vehicle for slowing down the excesses of today's fashion industry. The concepts for her work are always narrative driven, Ellis often inspired by identity and communities within her process.

Annabel is a menswear designer and multidisciplinary artist. Originally from Chester, currently London based completing an MA in Fashion at the Royal College of Art. They are interested in creating new identities through their sensitive approach to menswear, re-working and challenging men’s wardrobe essentials to create a new language and deeper way for the wearer to connect with their garments. Annabel engages with wood, metal and furniture to inform their practice with a focus on menswear. Annabel is a recipient of the Dior MAN BFC Scholarship for 2022/23 and has industry experience from brands such as Acne Studios and Bless Service.

I am of mixed Scottish and Congolese heritage, currently studying BA Fashion in Manchester School of Arts. Craftsmanship, sustainability, and collaboration are at the core of my practice. I challenge the boundaries of where art meets fashion whilst questioning and challenging current affairs regarding the impact of a designer’s footprint in the world. My passion for knit and crochet merged with interest in science and technology are further experimented in my 3d processes. My narratives are often poetic with embedded meaning. My background in sports and love for dance play a significant role in influencing movement in my designs, as they celebrate curvilinear organic shapes that hug or flow on the body mimicking natural forms yet evoking a hint of futurism. I design through make; embracing each spontaneous fold, crease or unravelling of knit and developing into a hybrid classic silhouette. Colour to me is an ambiguous being and throughout my visual arts background admiring colour usage in the works of early Renaissance artists to Impressionists, I was drawn to the life that colour gives form, yet its absence equates its power. This admiration and celebration for colour pushes me to think of innovative textile processes to introduce colour to designs, inspired by natural dyeing processes and smart textiles… To me the sketchbook process becomes a living foundation and home to the collection of designs I create. At times, or more like always, I’m a bit of a big dreamer, always striving for better, positive change. And fashion is the voice through which I aim to do so.

A stylist, creative director, fashion and accessories designer with half a decade of fashion experience. She explores Afrofuturism and her Nigerian – British identity. With the use of her textiles and fine art background she narrates different stories in collection, offering unique perspectives. She recently had her first fashion film screened in the Victoria and Albert Museum for the African Fashion Exhibition night with GUAP magazine. She holds a focus on sustainability, her pieces are futuristic while using recycled materials. This is achieved also with her accessories brand that has been labelled the accessories “Redefining the ‘it’ bag” from Refinery 29 and named on of “31 cool British brands” by Who What Wear. Arielle is a multi-disciplinary who is influenced by traditional craftsmanship, her heritage and London culture.

Growing up alongside a disabled sibling; being transgender in a devoutly Christian family; Benaissa's distinctive worldview has been shaped by their consequent experiences. This unique perspective has greatly informed their work, through identities that have surrounded them during their formative years, as well as the liminal and superfluous space in which they exist. Projecting a certain level of fantasy, Benaissa combines nostalgic humour and dark satirical references to create a fantastical and uncomfortably familiar identity. Adding playful, nostalgic colour, they've expressed this in womenswear and menswear, blending costume and wearability into a further collage of reference, translating the fantasy into an understandable shared reality.

Brandon Choi is a London-based fashion designer whose work draws inspiration from couture techniques, sculpture and the artisanal. Through creative cutting and draping, his work places emphasis on process, craft and collaboration. Brandon’s debut collection opened the University of Westminster BA graduate show at London Fashion Week in February 2020. The accessories for the collection were made in collaboration with Leo Costelloe and press coverage included SHOWstudio, 1Granary and Vogue Italia. He was also selected by Selfridges for their Class of 2020 feature. Alongside his BA, Choi completed internships at Aganovich, VIKTOR&ROLF Haute Couture, Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood and Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY. This industry experience in ateliers and studios in Paris, Amsterdam and London gave him the opportunity to polish his skills and work alongside industry professionals. In 2020, Brandon was awarded the British Fashion Council MA Chanel Scholarship to attend Central Saint Martins to study MA Fashion (Womenswear). He is currently working towards completing his MA collection for 2022.

Coming from an immigrant family, my Sri Lankan heritage is a significant source of inventiveness and ingenuity. Growing up as a British Asian from Slough, Berkshire, I have noticed that being Sri Lankan means I have lived as a minority within a minority and this left me feeling invisible. This feeling of invisibility has become the driving force at which I have realised it is my responsibility to represent my people as Sri Lanka is a forgotten country. Bringing Sri Lanka into the forefront of fashion, I am able to create thought-provoking menswear that is not a costume or caricature of traditional Asian-wear. My father’s experiences of the world are the nucleus of my work that are constant sources of energy and inspiration for me. As my muse, I use the chronicles of his life and struggles with mental illness, racism, and discrimination to motivate me to use my art as a way of empowering men of colour in having the confidence to share their perspectives of the world. My work also explores my ongoing duality as a British person and as an Asian person that encapsulates and celebrates the growing history of the British Asian community and our craft. My work as a BA graduate from LCF was featured in SHOWstudio’s Class of 2020. I am currently studying MA Fashion Menswear at Central Saint Martins and will be graduating in 2023.

Dem the 1st is a Cyprus born, London-based fashion designer. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing, his work explores religion, homoeroticism identity and the movement of the human body, with the aim to create a connection between his past and present life, through his personal and authentic lens. Through his distinctstorytelling, Dem the 1st always wants to provoke people and make them ask questions with his creations. By portraying a vision of men as both ethereal and vulnerable, he breaks the stereotypes of how attached a person can be with their femininity. Dem the 1st previously served in the National guard of Cyprus as a tank operator. In stark contrast, he also pursued dancing professionally which contributed to his intrigue about how the body moves and performs in certain spaces in specific times. Prior to his graduation, he has gained industry experience working at Viktor and Rolf and Courréges. Dem the 1st’s designs embark on creating new feelings, further evoked by the use of scents to inspire and act as part of building his own utopia. With the help of British Fashion Council, Dem the 1st is able to complete his BA studies and give birth to his nostalgic dream of raising awareness of acceptance through the lens of religious notions

I'm Drew, a queer knit designer from the North studying Fashion with Knitwear at Central Saint Martins. I would describe my style of fashion design as being eccentric, camp and kitsch with an abundance of glamour shimmering throughout. I focus a lot on shape when designing, taking influence from club kid culture combined with my own style to create bold silhouettes. I am heavily inspired by queer culture, my personal life experiences, and love to make a statement but not take things too seriously in the process. I often try to turn negative experiences in my life and find the beauty in creating a positive outcome. Throughout my work I am experimental, using unusual materials and always finding new/interesting ways to crochet and knit and you’ll usually find me creating beautiful garments from things lying around the house, rubbish and sustainably sourced materials. I love mixing opposites together when designing which ends up with often a fun/ more out-there concept and allows me to view my work in different perspectives. My garments have been published in magazines such as, Hunger, Pap, Sicky and Glamcult.

Fashion Designer, Illustrator and Ceramicist. Edward Mendoza is a fashion designer & artist who is currently studying MA Fashion at Central Saint Martins. His work explores his heritage, his father being from Peru and mother from Grenada and himself being born in London; understanding his multicultural identity living in the diaspora and reclaiming, retelling and recontextualizing influences from his culture's past and modernising them. His work empowers people, showing Peru and his cultures in another way that hasn’t been seen before. A maximalist who loves creating joyous bold in your face colours and prints. Edward believes clothing has the power to change our mood and feel good about our bodies; people who wear his clothes feel invigorated. He wants people to smile seeing his clothes, because of a cheeky illustration or just that it brightens their day. He believes clothes should be made for real body sizes big and small. He’s exhibited in the Tate Modern, and worked with Netflix, Bridgerton & the BFC creating costumes for the leading actresses, he enjoys modelling time to time representing plus-sized people and creating sculptures outside of fashion.

Ella Morris is a BA final year graduate of Central Saint Martins. Having been restricted to researching within her own home this year has caused her work to evolve; she delved into her families history and began looking into the idea of value linked to objects. The conceptual nature of her work is fundamental in creating sensitive, thoughtful and atmospheric pieces. She sources her fabrics and embellishments second hand or sustainably. Sourcing fabrics in this way is an integral part of the concepts that she explores. Having done life-drawing from the age of 14 she finds drawing and illustration also play a crucial role, allowing her to communicate effectively.

My work is based around my life growing up into a working class family in London, where I am inspired everyday by the people you see travelling on the tube to work. Being someone who enjoys going to the pub with his mates, I have always been fascinated by the variety of people you see inside a pub, the old man who’s been in there since 10am, the office worker in his suit , the builders in their dirty clothes, people of many different ages and different backgrounds. However no one seems to look out of place. This to me, is what describes London at its best. Different people from all walks of life who don't feel or look out of place. All this inspires my work as I like to design different garments such as workwear, sportswear and/or tailoring with a great synergy.

My name is Francesca Lake and I am a womenswear designer from Kingston, Jamaica. As a multidisciplinary creative my design aesthetic is an external representation of duality and contradiction. By contrasting elements that are typically viewed as opposing sides, finding their commonality, and celebrating and amplifying that cohesion throughout my work forms the underpinnings of my ethos and language as an artist. I investigate these subjects through garment construction, prose, fashion film and ceramic sculpture as the mediums to tell these stories. The silhouettes I create are heavily informed by the loud and vibrant persona of my culture, therefore creating work that is sculptural and outwardly expressive in its construction and provide an emotional and visceral experience for a holistic way to consume fashion with meaning.

Franco Appiah is an Italian-born designer of Ghanaian heritage, trained at the London College of Fashion. Creating at the intersection of cultures, and drawing from his own rich heritage, Appiah’s work serves as an exploration of self and identity. Although pensive and deliberate, Appiah’s portfolio is also playful and supported by his use of colour and traditional textures. His affinity for colour and eye for detail most likely stem from the designer’s experience in Graphic Design, which would later serve to inform his creative process. While Franco’s work exalts the beauty that is to be found on the African continent, he also wants to view it with a critical eye. By way of his designs, Franco’s intention is to draw attention to the experience of Queer people in Ghana, and the various boundaries that young Queer Africans face both in childhood and their daily lives.

Fraser Miller is the 9th child of a ten sibling Bristolian, Christian, poor working-class family. He is of Danish, English and Scottish descent and heritage is VITAL to him. Secrecy is a core value for Fraser's because of the tight-lipped Christian childhood he had. Leading into emancipation. The release of oneself from rules and restrictions that inhibit your authenticity from existing. Never turning back. Always looking forward in intermate betterment. Fraser studied Fashion Design at De Montfort University in Leicester and went on to consequently win the visionary knitwear award at Graduate Fashion Week 2018. During 2019 he interned at Julien MacDonald for 6 months creating and producing knitwear. He started his Masters in Fashion Design Knitwear in October 2019. After battling through numerous obstacles, curtesy of the pandemic, Fraser is now a proud 2021 graduate of the MAFCSM programme with his collection, cONFORMITY cONTRASTED. Fraser has started his brand, fRASER bRUCE mILLER, and released his brand website.

I’m a 23 year old multidisciplinary designer with a vision that organically fuses farm and fashion. Analysing Afro-futurism and aspects surrounding it - such as agriculture - is the route I will be expanding my research on. I blend fashion and cross-disciplinary arts, creating a symbiotic fusion of nature and technology. While studying fashion, I have tapped into accessory and sculpture design, which has enabled me to create meaningful relationships and gain a wealth of knowledge beyond fashion. It is natural to me to incorporate my African culture into practice, and hailing from Namibia & Ghana aides the holistic ideation. The notion that clothing has no gender is strongly recognised in my work and is achieved through materiality and contrast. Digital fashion and world building is another tool I use to create my Afro-futuristic vision of regenerative agriculture. I use interactive mediums through which the audience can digitally practice agriculture while wearing my garments. I showcased my graduate collection, ""Af-Gro Moving Forward"" at the Victoria & Albert Museum, in honour of the Africa Fashion Exhibition with Guap Magazine, and received a textile innovation award for the catwalk show.

I was born in Poland and grew up in a single parent household with my mother. Together we moved around from Poland, to Israel to Wales. With her support I competed professionally as a 400m athlete representing Wales, and through that, I learned the importance of resilience. At the age of 18, I moved to London on my own, to pursue a degree in fashion design while also working as a part-time model. However, my life's most profound lesson came at the end of my 2nd year of studying when I decided to become a mother. I understood firsthand the boundless dedication that mothers pour into their role. In a world where the women's liberation movement questioned the value of motherhood, I was looking forward to the challenge it presented. Despite the lack of formal training, salary, or benefits, I believe that motherhood is still a noble profession, though its worth may have been diminished by some aspects of feminism. As a young mother, I'm driven by the belief that my experiences, particularly my close yet complicated relationship with my mother, has given me a unique perspective. Even though it may challenge societal norms, it has helped me discover a sense of purpose. In my design process, I aim to reflect this perspective and show admiration for mothers who choose this path, offering a different perspective that celebrates the dedication and importance of this role.

Having grown up in a council estate in Carlisle, my design practice specialises in political statement pieces with experimentation on the use of fashion as a means as justice and social reform. Growing up within a working-class community, I was surrounded by the struggles of many and the prosperity of few who having advantage of simply being born within a family of money; being encompassed within this environment drove me to pursue a career where I could attempt to aid those within disadvantaged positions. The physical safeguards which clothing provides the body resolves that every human possesses the canvass in which to convey a message: making fashion the perfect tool for reform. My work is ultimately about the real working people of society, striving to highlight the injustices they face and demonstrating the power they hold. I couldn’t in good conscience, create clothing which serves to follow a trend, rather my garments are steeped with messages which work to educate the disadvantaged on political and cultural matters, with which I hope to create a communal movement which works to spread this message of defiance further until the whole landscape of politics is shifted.

Huguette Tchiapi Kameni is a British born designer of Cameroonian heritage currently studying at Central Saint Martins. Viewing clothing through the lens of a unique human experience that transcends race,gender, class and age, clothing as a second skin has always intrigued Huguette, as a necessity and an art form. With a strong interest in fictional worlds different from our own, Huguette writes stories, scripts and builds worlds to present multi-dimensional characters that explore the different identities Black people can encompass outside of ones presented throughout mainstream media. With design and craft informed through these imaginings, ancestry and twisted it into an image of surrealism crossed with British tailoring, Huguette aims to question what is deemed as ‘Black’ aesthetics, to shift the narrative to one which is more inclusive of sexuality, race and identity. Excluded from the realm of what can be considered otherworldly in fantasy across mass media. Often seen as ‘forced diversity’ or ‘unrealistic’, Huguette is taking ownership of their narrative to contextualise it in ways Black people are not being seen, through exploring gender expression and androgyny in menswear while depicting it in the world of an alternate dark reality.

Ilona Mandyradzhy was born in Kyiv having mixed Ukrainian and Turkish heritage. Since childhood Ilona has always been involved in art and especially attracted by fashion. After finishing art school she continued her education at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. In 2022 she took part in Erasmus+ exchange program with Birmingham City University after which was offered a place to continue studies as BCU student. In her works, attention is usually concentrated on social topics, mental interaction between people and personal transformation. In her models Ilona enjoy playing with minimalistic design connecting it with deconstruction and futuristic elements. Great attention is also paid to the materials and fabric manipulation. In her projects, designer is trying to show both felinity and strength of character by finding new silhouettes, forms and textures. With the support of the British Fashion Council, Ilona is developing a conceptual project showing the influence of ethnic art on personality and mentality. The project is concentrated on folk art and crafts of Ukraine using ancient pattern cutting techniques and ecofriendly plant based materials.

India Hunnikin is designer and stylist based in London. Her work explores lesbian and queer identity, pushing for visibility and representation. Centring around the character: ‘the cuntry bumpkin slaggamuffin o'Rutland with psychedelic prairie tendencies who frolicks in rape-seed oil fields in woollen neon crotchless thongs and hosts oil drenched orgies behind your grandma's nylon net lacey curtains #shyconique'. She plays with tensions of awkwardness and sexual autonomy, aiming to weaponize oppressive archetypes of sexuality and place the wearer’s confidence as priority. Her work has been featured in the likes of Dazed, The Face and Replica and is a regular contributor to up-and-coming zine Plates of Meat.

Originally from Sheffield, I am a London based womenswear designer. I have been working within the industry for 8 years now and over this time have developed excellent technical skills from a broad range of mentors within the industry. My practice is skill based, with pattern making at the core. I take the glamorous and “feminine” and distort this using a paper-pattern drafted from a 4D scan of my distorted torso. Creating lumps and bumps in unexpected places. I’m interested in reconsidering female elegance, making what people may consider grotesque and uncomfortable into glamour. Having previously studied menswear, I use flat pattern cutting skills to contrast soft draping, using both flowing and tough fabrics to evoke a sense of confusion. Isabella McKinlay is a London-based fashion designer. Her creative practice evolves from a connection to the natural world, focusing on conceptual couture and eco-technologies to prompt new dialogue in sustainable design. Isabella previously pursued studies law and politics, with industry experience in humanitarian and environmental policy reform. However, in a welcomed career change, she is currently studying Womenswear at Central Saint Martins where these influences continue to remain fundamental to her work. Her designs aim to merge extremes: Matter & Void, Expansion & Constriction, using eco-innovations, such as regenerated hiking fabrics and cactus leather, to create an atmospheric aesthetic. By exploring the intangibles of existence (thought, motion, space, time, energy), she resides in a more abstract interpretation of fashion. With the support of the British Fashion Council, Isabella is also developing new experimentations in fashion and visual art and is currently creating a collection of biodegradable sculptures.

Ivan comes from a small village, Höganäs, in Southern Sweden and they are a fashion designer based in London, UK and Sweden. Their graduate collection is about looking at the colourful and playful world of old MMORPG and fantasy videogames through the lens of their childhood nostalgia. For the collection, Ivan designed and made knitted fabric and silk prints based on childhood drawings of weapons and symbols that they made when they were 7 years old. These drawings were tucked away in the attic in their childhood home in Sweden and returning home because of the pandemic, Ivan connected with those again and the story of their collection indirectly started writing itself. Ivan mixes this with their developments in Zero-Waste pattern cutting, which is something they are passionate about and have been studying and practicing for 2 years now, Ivan also wrote their dissertation on it and it has become the focal pillar of sustainability in theur collection. This year, their work was featured on Digital Fashion Week New York, where they explained their personal process of mixing virtual technologies with real-life techniques.

Shaped by his upbringing and immersion in gritty subcultures, his design language is a captivating fusion of diverse inspirations. He has a strong passion for storytelling which he explores through print and draws from personal experiences as a base for his collections. His work boldly questions conventional masculinity, employing a playful yet raw aesthetic that pushes the boundaries of menswear. Through unconventional proportions, fabrics, and textures, he defies expectations, as well as fostering discussions that encourage a re-evaluation of men's mental health.

Coming from a traditional gypsy upbringing Leaving school at 12 and spending my younger years travelling around the British countryside, staying in lay-bys at the Cotswolds, disused factory car parks in Leicestershire and generally running around the Fields of Britain have raised me with a great balance of calm and natural approach to my work and as a designer, I’ve always wanted to focus my design practice on my cultural upbringing, heritage and identity. Inspired by my gypsy heritage I want to change the narrative of the way people who know nothing or little about gypsy culture to consider, change and break down stereotypes associated with the gypsy communities in this country. The sense of Unity and cultural values that unfortunately in this modern era has grown detached from and how easily people that are not involved in can criticise or dismiss. I thought I would never be able to go to university, I have had to fight conflicts that I keep to myself daily to remain calm just to study, it’s just not the norm for where I come from, but I use it as a driving force, to remind myself that for me university was a privilege.

Climate change starts with empathy, and unfortunately this is something which men have been taught not to express. The men that I have grown up with, surrounded by, and witnessed have been subjected to a limitation in career aspirations and emotional development. This has created a manipulated man, who is influenced by patriarchy, where brutality and destruction are praised and expression is shunned. The brutal distortions of masculinity are now represented in spending, occupying, and competing, values which threaten ourselves as well as our planet. My work encourages empathy in men, and celebrates men who care.

Having graduated from the Fashion Design and Technology course at Manchester Fashion Institute (MMU) in 2021, I took a year out to focus on myself, whilst thinking about the direction I wanted my career to head in. It was during this time that I launched a workwear-inspired unisex brand with one of my closest friends. Coming from a working class background in a small Northern town has very much informed my research and design process. Having grown up around extremely hard-working people it has pushed me to apply this method of hard work to my own discipline, but also this sense of escapism and fear from being trapped here. Another motivation behind my work stems from my ancestors Josiah Wedgwood and Charles Darwin. I have a deep appreciation for craft and my design philosophy is based around garments that can evolve through transformative details. Like Darwin’s theory in which species evolve over time, I want the garments I create today to not only co-exist with garments I create in the future, but to actively be able to interact with them.

Joshua Ewusie is a British Ghanian Designer whose work documents a constant exploration of his identity. Being Ghanaian, but born and raised in London, His work serves as a medium to question how society, culture and politics differ within the West and West African diaspora. A recent graduate from Central Saint Martins’ BA Fashion Design with Communication course and having previously worked at JW Anderson and Maximilian Davis. His graduate collection Pressure, was a melding of sharp British Tailoring and unique draping techniques. Ewusie, is currently studying his Masters in Fashion Womenswear at Central Saint Martins.

Kazna Asker is a fashion designer that has created a brand encompassing the values associated with community, activism and charity. The brand combines her British upbringing with her Yemeni heritage, merging technical sportswear fabrics with traditional woven Middle Eastern scarves and fabrics. Purposefully designing in pairs to show the brother and sisterhood of the Muslim community, Kazna creates matching menswear and womenswear looks as well as featuring a range of corresponding tracksuits and outerwear with Islamic abayas and thobes. Alongside Fashion, Kazna directly collaborates with her local community by contributing to community projects in her hometown of Sheffield, UK, as well as volunteering with refugees in the Netherlands and working with rural communities in Nepal alongside youth-led charity Restless Development. Alongside co-organising community fundraisers for Yemen and Palestine, raising over £20,000 for charity, Kazna has created her own charity project in designing and selling T-shirts in which she has currently raised over £6000 for Yemen.

Latifa Neyazi is a London based designer, studying MA Womenswear at Central Saint Martins. Her work derives from her Afghan heritage, exploring how the female body is viewed within the society. With a poetic approach to design, she works with volume and texture with focus on craftsmanship. Through her emotive response to her research, the study of proportions, silhouettes and movement create an eruptive energy. Her work has been photographed by Solve Sundsbo for LOVE magazine and she has worked with Netflix on BFC x Bridgerton collaboration to create looks for actresses.

I have become obsessed with the interactions between different groups in society which is explored and expressed (with humour) in my practice. Paris-born fashion design student Maïssane Zinaï’ work reflects on the concepts of movements, dynamics of the body, the mind and identity. Believing the world is animated by a single breath that puts in movement, organises and choreographs every element around us, her designs are seen as a revisit of her Algerian cultural roots mixed with sporty, dynamic shapes and futuristic/sci-fi influences. Textile experiments and print are major components of her design practice. Her work has been published in international magazines such as PAPER Magazine wearing by singer Katy Perry, on GlamCult wearing by singer Lafawndah, showcased on ShowStudio and her Digital Wallflower Dress is currently shortlisted for the Balenciaga Museum Transmission Exhibition. Maïssane is the founder of the CSM Fashion Alumni Club, a student-led initiative to enhance collaborations and strengthen bounds within the CSM Fashion community.

Being a Black, Arab, Muslim woman from Moroccan-Caribbean decent, with a disability, I understand the feeling of being viewed as less than and the reality of feeling like you’re living in a world which was not intended for you. Therefore, I am passionate about activism and having strong feelings when it comes to those who are oppressed, minorities, outcasts and all those who tend to be forgotten and unheard. As a designer, I feel it’s my duty to shed light on injustices, be it political or environmental and create awareness for topics such as mental health. Art has a way of making the viewer think and feel things without saying a word. A lot of my design work is influenced by activism, movements throughout history and potentially uncomfortable or taboo topics but it’s what really drives me. I’m also passionate about sustainability and always thinking of new ways to combat overconsumption and improve my practice to ensure my garments remain sustainable. We have the power to make people look, to start trends, to be heard, even if it is met with disapproving attitudes.

Originally from France, Mehmet graduated from the MA Fashion at Central Saint Martins in Spring 2022. His studies were supported by the BFC MA Final Year Scholarship which facilitated the creation of his collection named “21st century in Istanbul”. Mehmet’s work is often inspired by his immigrant family living in France, drawing on a range of references from sculpture to Orientalist imagery. Specialising in 'flou' and technical hand sketching, he aims to develop fluid draped pieces using jerseys and knits over tailored canvas structures. This is one of many skills and techniques he learnt whilst working in Parisian couture ateliers prior to doing his Masters. He is currently freelancing on a range of projects and designing for private clients and his goal to develop his career in high end and couture houses.

Born in the small North Yorkshire market town of Northallerton, Michael John Kirby is a Menswear Designer with a focus on sustainably produced conceptual products. Growing up in a rural setting, hailing from a farming family his work is heavily influenced by, and aims to question, his personal relationships towards heritage and environments. Currently based in London having studied on the BA Fashion Design course at The University of Westminster. For his BA final collection entitled, ‘The Absence of Field’, a series of sustainably produced experimental and wearable garments were produced - which seek to explore and abstract the aforementioned personal relationship between the individual body and agricultural environments. Traditional references to workwear are investigated alongside contemporary abstracted forms that capture the intangible tension of the designer's intimate turmoil between personal and inherited identities. Structured modular materials and potential forms evocative of digitally recorded landscapes are created using a system of 1cm wide channels containing wooden dowels flanked by an arrangement of snap fastenings in grid formations scaling from 15cm² to 60cm²; to engage a debate between the relative individual body and environment.

Molly Sellars is a British fashion designer currently based in London, UK. She is originally from the Lake District, growing up surrounded by the outdoors is where her interest in functional outdoor clothing started. Molly is currently in her final year of studying Fashion Design at the University of Westminster. Her experience in the fashion industry so far includes working at Studio ALCH, Paq Works and Norse Projects in Copenhagen. Molly’s clothing has previously been worn by artists such as MHD, Kojey Radical, DJ Snake, Joy Crookes, Hamzaa, Jvck James and House of Pharaohs. More recently she has been recognised as one of MSM’s Designer’s to Watch, Molly’s work reflects her interest in clothing fit for the outdoors whilst highlighting the subject of sustainability, her graduate collection comprises of a series of garments that counteract festival waste, whilst striving for functionality. Garments presented suggest new propositions for festival waste by exploring the art of being unconventional, through ideas surrounding repurposing festival waste into desirable and wearable outdoor clothing.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Nelson Choga describes himself as a pattern cutter and designer. Currently based in London, he recently graduated from London College of Fashion with a BA in Fashion Pattern Cutting. His design aesthetic is influenced by his own multicultural story as a Zimbabwean who has lived in five countries and other people's stories. It is his vision to make garments physical expressions of contemporary times through vibrant colours, shapes, and details. In his graduation collection, he explored themes related to identity and integration. He illustrated the journey by building a bridge between African sculpture and cubism. By doing so, I am reclaiming my identity as an African man while embracing my new identity as an immigrant and a Londoner. In the process of integration.

Nusra Nijimbere is a British, Burundi designer, focused on the material – archival possibilities of design. Her background in Textiles print design at Central Saint Martins lends itself to the tactile language of her work and how it communicates to the cultural narratives of East Africa and nuances of East London. Nusra’s sculpted pieces lend themselves to spaces for observation and practical use , Shifting how we interact with communicative mediums and who has access. This often involves a cross-collaborative relationship between communities and educational spaces to re-imagine existing materials and printed matter. Her most recent time on Burberry’s print team , was a close introspection into traditional scopes of British heritage and identifiable visual languages that feed the conversation. Nusra is focused on subverting form and print language within contemporary design settings. Her work speaks on the need to continually build the space between educational institutions and the communities that come into contact with the lived subject matter as a method of re-imagining how we design, and how we can continuously learn.

Pearl Quist was born and raised in the Netherlands and the UK. Her inspiration comes from a mixture of her Ghanaian and Dutch heritage, giving her a unique story to creatively navigate. Pearl’s design aesthetic explores bold, contemporary pieces which can veer into the abstract through experimentation with print and block colours reminiscent of Ghanaian landscapes. Silhouettes and shapes are often worked out through a mix of collage and draping on the stand. ‘I will always return to my roots, the ‘land of Kings and Queens’ as a source of inspiration because it is important for me to recognize how the past has formed me as an individual. Quite of a lot my inspiration is from literature, for my practice words are a way of evolving ideas into a new form with emphasis on capturing my black identity’. Pearl designs womenswear with a touch of masculinity, combined with tailoring and street style.

Ross Palmer is an English designer, his practice takes an interdisciplinary approach spanning sculpture, photography, fashion, and biomaterials. Currently studying at the Royal College of Art his work aims to leave no harmful trace on the planet. He has been developing natural fabrics from food products that are fully compostable, these were debuted in his collection for the BA Fashion 2022 show at Central Saint Martins. Where his practice uses other fabrics, these are exclusively deadstock/antique fabrics, solely natural fibres or leather by-products. His work focuses on the handmade details and craftsmanship to ensure every detail is considered and thoughtful with handcrafted fastenings made in bronze. Palmer bridges the gap between art and fashion by creating wearable sculptures incorporating dis-used bronze and waxed fabrics. His work is centred heavily around photography to inform his creative process using subversive and unusual print methods.

Sabreen Hassan is a British Egyptian designer who bases her work on her love for historical periods and her Egyptian heritage. Her work is continuously changing and evolving with the times as she loves adapting her style on the social patterns of society. Research is the most important thing in her design practice, she loves bringing aspects of the past that have been nearly forgotten back to life to create timeless pieces. She has recently loved looking into her culture and combining it with her London upbringing creating a mixture of vibrate shapes, colours and prints. Her main aim as a designer is to create work that’s allows people from all communities and backgrounds to feel a sense of relatability, appreciation and to create conversation about her work and concepts.

Serena Addington is a London-based fashion designer of Ghanian Heritage. Her desire to specialise in tailoring and dress making grew from her ardent yearning to have a lifelong trade. Growing up working class in Southeast London and living in a manic environment, has led her to cultivate a deep admiration for what she had seen. This enticed her to reflect on the juxtaposition of her distorted nostalgia and dedicate a large part of her focus to obscuring the stigmas/ stereotypes assigned to people in Southeast London. Her latest fixations involve a visual analysis centring around the absence of formality and statement dressing in contemporary society by creating a hybrid between outer wear in Southeast London and ceremonial garb. This world is centred on the designer's mother who embodies this languorous concoction as a muse for her collection, disrupting the stigmatisation causes by class division. Being granted with the opportunity to be a BFC scholar is an enormous honour for me. I study at a university where it can be difficult to find financial support for BA final year collections, so receiving this scholarship has given me the opportunity to elevate my practice to a level that I have long desired. It means that I am a part of an organisation where my adoration for tailoring and dress making can truly thrive. With the support of the BFC I will be able to collaborate with artisanal creatives and adapt visual digitalised marketing/communication into my collection. It is vehemently important that student get the chance to receive help from organisations like the BFC to give them the chance to express all their bottled-up creativity that may be compromised by their limited financial circumstance.

Shanti describes themselves as a menswear designer, contemporary furniture maker and multidisciplinary creative. They are based in London where they recently graduated from Central Saint Martins studying BA Fashion: Print. Their graduate collection explored the concept of the burden and pressures that society places on young men of an ‘ideal masculinity’ and in turn, they wanted to display a shifted perspective of masculinity where strength can mean being vulnerable. Currently, Shanti is studying MA Fashion at the Royal College of Art. Their work constantly engages with sculpture, masculinity and menswear, furniture, carpentry and wood. Shanti explores how relationships and parallels can be drawn between these varying classifications through vast experimentation with different mediums and materials and collaborations with contrasting creative fields. Shanti is interested in blurring the boundaries of fashion through using my creative and life experiences to inform their practice.

Stella Satie is a Latvian, London-based menswear designer, specializing in needlework craft and couture embroidery. Stella's approach to menswear is rooted in the female gaze. Before pursuing studies at Central Saint Martins, Stella gained years of experience as a costume design assistant in the theatre, a role that deeply connected her to the historical romanticism and poetry once associated with masculine identities. Her approach to textile design draws inspiration from her upbringing in the Eastern European countryside, and her family's craft traditions that were passed down through generations. Stella is especially focused on the therapeutic potential of needlework; her aim is to honour and preserve the legacy of traditional crafting techniques and their transformative power to rehabilitate, heal, and bring together communities through collaboration.

Tasha Sweeney is a Knitwear Designer based in London. She is a recent graduate on the MA Fashion Course at Central Saint Martins. Her work examines the relationship between sportswear and femininity, creating hybrid garments with sportswear elements, and feminine details, whilst conveying her love of colour and texture. Combining manipulated and or embellished fabrics with knitwear allows her to create her own fabrics to give her work a personal identity. Being a core value in her design process, sustainability is paramount; her knitwear is made from almost entirely dead-stock yarns.

I am Tj, a Multi Disciplinary Designer. Research is the strongest Aspect to my Process. I find it more valuable when I create my own research by doing a performance art piece that I then can unpick and transfer into a Garment. I have a very Observant and analytical mind-set that I use to explore My Queer identity and working-class Heritage within my work, by using materials that convey a metaphoric message regards the society we currently live in. I generate conversation that challenges the institutional perspective and navigation. I use the barriers that I and the people who inspire me have faced from being working class and Queer and turn them into a superpower, being honest and truthful to my experience and also collaborating with fellow Queer Creatives to create bodies off work that are Poetic, Dysphoric and have a Feeling of vulgarity. I then translate these stories within my design process by using Textures (knitwear) and 3D draping. I like to take a recognisable Garments and details and manipulate them with Draping to create a contemporary visual from the Skelton of the Past, using this methodology strengthens my Message off challenging societies ‘normal’ and the institutional structures that have demonised being Queer.

Currently based between London and Leeds, I am a fashion designer and mixed media artist. For the past 3 years, my research has centered around providing stimulating opportunities for people to challenge their perceptions of artwork and the world. By experimenting with sensory design, physical depth, and scale, I hope to intrigue the subconscious. My sculptural processes draw inspiration from nature and the human form, and the resulting silhouettes and surfaces are then transformed into wearable artwork, furniture, and sculptures. I believe it is possible to change an individual’s approach and consideration for art after experiencing one of my pieces. I am now exploring the Afrofuturism movement as a vehicle to connect with my blackness and provide opportunities for others to introspect their identity through my designs. I find it fascinating to combine these topics with character design, fantasy, and themes of online role-playing games like RuneScape, which has uncovered the confidence and comfortability with my authentic self. I have received awards from Metallic Inc and APOC Store and held my first solo exhibition in 2021.

My current primary focus is London and the difficulties in interpreting its identity. London is facing a disruption in its identity; who we are, what we should be, the image we have of ourselves. Having lived here my whole life, I have captured London through my own eyes. I have collected and collated images; I’ve felt every beat of this city through the moods on the underground to the sounds, smells and textures of the many bustling markets. My work is concerned with creating a language that consolidates the Identity of this vast city, in particular the identity of the ‘workers’, the majority who keep this city’s heart beating. Many of us must ‘make do’ with what we have, ‘I’ and my work are no exception; I create my workings with all the soul this city has, as all the soul lies at the deepest levels, the unseen. Using what I have to hand I ‘make do’ with the materials at my disposal. I want to show what the mind is capable of when inevitable limitations are met. Something new takes place, re-working, re-imagining and creating a new world from old potential. That’s where the soul is and that’s where London’s identity lies.

I operate on intensity, be it from pleasure, pain, or whatever lies in between. My experiences find their way into my work and the aim is to bring them together with what I value in design and popular culture. I’ve spent much of my life obsessing over the zeitgeist, watching its continuous evolution. I always have questions and through design and self-expression I try to identify the answers. I hope that my work makes someone feel a little more daring, or invites them to consider the vast possibilities of self-expression. Zeshaan Iqbal was born and raised in London. His design practice involves experimenting with shape, utilising distinctive qualities of fabrics to achieve unique silhouettes. His work is an ongoing dialogue concerned with contrast, inspired by the many different parts of his life that are at odds with each other. “I’ve often used fashion as a way to escape as well as to celebrate life. It’s the dichotomy, the duality that I like to capture in my designs.
