Open World Sewing

Theo Ike

Location: London, United Kingdom
University/College: University of Westminster Specialisms: Conceptual Fashion
Open World Sewing is a visualisation of our planet as a design tool, and of garments as souvenirs signposting life. Theo Ike’s work is one chapter of his lifelong fascination with the the natural world and geography over fashion, speculating over the bizarre and unknown future that we march towards. References to Biblical plague events and dinosaur archaeological sites are present alongside outerwear commemorating recent volcanic activity in Iceland, as well as speculative garments designed for future extreme weather events. The designer sees clothing primarily as animated billboards that punctuate and commemorate life and its events as we live through it. The London-based designer is seeking work in design consultation in Summer 2024 and beyond.
