The traditional craft of hat making has been preserved for over 200 years but is now on the UK Red List of Endangered Crafts. This collection of ‘hats for the body’ reinvents traditional hat making techniques within the new context of contemporary womenswear, shining a spotlight on the endangered craft. Through the collection’s concept of Imposter Phenomena, Emily explores how garments can mould self-confidence and enable the wearer to ‘own the room’. Emily Rose uses British woollen mill deadstock to craft a British Story - Woven in the UK, Blocked in the UK, Made in the UK. A contemporary designer and craftsman with strong technical skills and attention to detail, Emily loves pushing the boundaries of cut and drape to create innovative silhouettes. She places high value on craftsmanship and narrative. Before completing her Masters at London College of Fashion, Emily interned at Maison Lemarié, Métiers d’art CHANEL, immersing herself in the savoir-faire of Parisian craftsmanship.
