The British Fashion Council (BFC) today announces Poppy Delevingne’s appointment to the recently created role of Young Ambassador for the BFC. She joins Laura Bailey who was announced Cultural Ambassador last month. The role of these ambassadors will be to support the British Fashion Council as it promotes British fashion design talent to a global market.
As an ambassador Poppy will attend key events as part of the BFC’s annual calendar including London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Awards and LONDON show ROOMS. Behind the scenes Poppy will receive regular briefings from the BFC on forthcoming activities, business support schemes and showcasing opportunities. She will also be meeting with designers, in their studios, to hear first-hand the challenges faced by young designers when they are setting up their businesses. This unique insight will allow Poppy to promote and become a spokesperson for these designers and brands when she is working with stylists and will be asked to provide comment or write features about the British fashion industry.
Poppy Delevingne commented, “I've been brought up around British fashion all my life, so it only seemed like the next most natural step to become an ambassador for the BFC. British fashion is extremely exciting and influential. I'm honoured to have been asked and looking forward to supporting new British talent.”
Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, said “Poppy is a successful international model and fashion icon and has been a huge supporter of British brands over the years. Her influence within the fashion industry will provide our British designers with increased media exposure and introduce them to her key contacts from other creative industries."
