Menswear January 2013 - The Facts & Figures

London Collections: Men will take place from 16th - 18th June

  • A total of 134 designers will participate at London Collections: Men SS14 in shows, presentations & events; Savile Row, MAN and Fashion East Collectives; and the Designer Showrooms.
  • There will be 30 shows (last season: 25); 22 presentations (last season: 20); 36 onsite showrooms (last season: 29) and 21 (last season: 13) events from 15th – 18th June.
  • 3 official venues will be used for London Collections: Men this season: The Hospital Club, The Old Sorting Office, and Victoria House, WC2.
  • International press from 30 countries and international buyers from 27 countries will  LC:M and buyers from over 17 countries attended the showcase in January 2013.
  • Internationally acclaimed brands Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Pringle of Scotland and rag & bone will present their mainline menswear collections in London for the first time in June.
  • Luxury brands including Hardy Amies and Gieves & Hawkes will both show stand-alone presentations alongside catwalk shows from new establishment Savile Row designers including Richard James and E. Tautz.
  • Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana and Dylan Jones, chair of London Collections: Men, will celebrate the opening of the fourth Dolce&Gabbana boutique in London with an event on Saturday 15th June to open the menswear season.
  • The Mayor of London celebrates London Collections: Men on Tuesday 18th June.
  • Highlights on the event schedule include; a party by Esquire & Jimmy Choo; a reception at Liberty hosted by Men’s Health and Oliver Spencer; and a dinner hosted by Jonathan Newhouse and Tommy Hilfiger. The showcase will close with a London Collections: Men Dinner hosted by Dylan Jones and Tracey Emin and a Tom Ford event.
  • Christopher Raeburn and Sibling will join Lou Dalton in receiving Fashion Forward sponsorship to hold a catwalk show at London Collections: Men. Fashion Forward is sponsored by eBay Fashion and supported by the Mayor of London.
  • Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen and Nasir Mazhar join Lee Roach, Martine Rose, Matthew Miller and Shaun Samson to complete the NEWGEN MEN, sponsored by TOPMAN, line-up for SS14.
  • Mintel estimates the men’s fashion market to have grown by 3.2% to £9.9 billion in 2011. Growth has been fuelled by a rise in the average selling prices of menswear. In addition, according to Mintel's research, the menswear market is anticipated to witness growth of 16% between 2011 and 2016. (Source: Mintel)
  •  In 2011, global menswear sales increased an estimated 9 percent to 24 billion euros, or $33.42 billion at average exchange rates, versus 22 billion euros, or $29.20 billion, in 2010. (Source: www.wwd.com)

  • The direct value of the UK fashion industry to the UK economy is £21 billion. (source: BFC Value of Fashion Report 2010)

  • The UK is renowned for having the best fashion colleges in the world.
