The British Fashion Council’s (BFC) international showcasing initiative LONDON show ROOMS is taking London’s brightest stars of British fashion to Los Angeles for the first time this October, building on the success of LONDON show ROOMS in Paris and New York. This initiative aims to develop the profile and business opportunities for these designers in international markets. West Coast buyers, stylists and press will have the opportunity to meet designers and view the collections in a unique environment.
London has an unparalleled reputation for nurturing the world’s most innovative, diverse and creative talents and LONDON show ROOMS in Los Angeles brings together many of those identified as London’s hottest stars. The showroom will showcase a selection of BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund shortlisted designers, Fashion Forward alumni with the addition of the winners of British Fashion Awards Menswear and Accessory Designers of the Year 2010.
A project aimed at boosting British designer exports, LONDON show ROOMS has grown to include a showroom in New York, and, in June 2010, launched LONDON show ROOMS MEN in Paris, both of which were in partnership with the Centre for Fashion Enterprise. This season, following a successful London Fashion Week, LONDON show ROOMS will increase its presence in the U.S. and develop their businesses internationally with help from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
LONDON show ROOMS LA will take place from October 17th-19th at the Ace Gallery, located at 5514 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. The showroom is a fully subsidized space for designers to showcase their collections with the support of international marketing, media and sales advisers.
Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC said, “Taking LONDON show ROOMS to LA will help further develop the profile of these designers through media coverage and introductions to media, stylists and retailers. LA is a significant market for our designers and we are delighted to be taking this initiative over to the west coast.”
Launched in 2008, LONDON show ROOMS is a key element of the British Fashion Council's designer support and mentoring scheme. The project is co-curated and managed by Anna Orsini and Barbara Grispini for the British Fashion Council with the support of the BFC’s Ambassador for Emerging Talent, Sarah Mower. The showroom provides a unique opportunity for emerging British designers to promote themselves outside London and secure new export business. LONDON show ROOMS are supported by UK Trade and Investment and part-financed by the European Union.
The Los Angeles showroom will be open from 10.30 AM until 6 PM, October 17th-19th, 2011 at the Ace Gallery, 5514 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA.
