Principal Sponsor of LFW - Vodafone - has developed a number of innovations to enable the fashion industry to stay connected at all times during the September shows.
The first, a new innovation for this season is a live multiple-vehicle tracking app to help keep the Mercedes-Benz VIP and press fleet moving around the city during London Fashion Week. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablets will be mounted in each of the cars allowing guests to track their progress through the city, and view their location and speed in relation to the press and photographer buses enabling them to know whether they are running ahead or behind the rest of the fashion elite.
Whilst helping to power LFW with the innovative fleet management technology, the app will also ensure that passengers have all the relevant event information at their fingertips. Live, animated updates from the timeline will provide expected show start times along with a twitter feed and a direct link to post show video feeds via the LFW YouTube channel.
Secondly, Vodafone’s mobile phone recharging front row will be returning to the BFC Show Space, together with pop-up recharging points throughout the Somerset House venue. The charging benches introduced to the front row last season work via a discreet charging drawer built into the front row capable of powering all of the latest smartphones and tablets, keeping the great and the good of the Fashion industry connected and in touch at all times.
Vodafone will again be rolling out their exclusive viewing platform this September, enabling Vodafone customers to get a great view of all of the shows in the Somerset House venue, opening up the exclusive doors of LFW through its Vodafone VIP programme.
All of this news comes on the back of Vodafone’s new designer partnership with Mary Katrantzou which was announced last month. Vodafone has entered into an exclusive two-season partnership with the pioneering designer and British Fashion Awards Emerging Talent Award winner - Katrantzou across Spring/Summer ’13 and Autumn/Winter ’13.
The partnership will kick off with Vodafone’s sponsorship of Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/Summer ’13 show and include an opportunity for Vodafone customers to get access to her innovative catwalk show as well as the chance to meet her backstage at London Fashion Week. Further details on the partnership will be announced later in 2012.
