Caroline Issa

CEO and consultant Caroline Issa describes herself as “a businesswoman who loves fashion.” Originally a retail and consumer goods consultant with an undergraduate business degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, she met the TANK Magazine team in 2002 and she left management consulting for the world of magazine publishing, where she has established herself since as a cultural observer and style director.

As chief executive and fashion director of London-based quarterly title TANK and editor of the first luxury fashion Virtual Reality magazine Because, the Montreal native is an established fixture on the fashion week circuit, well-known for her ability to generate retail opportunities for luxury brands through innovative use of VR technology, engaging digital content and brand strategy consulting. In February 2015, after years of behind-the-scenes product consulting, she launched a co-branded capsule line of luxury ready-to-wear essentials with American retailer Nordstrom, and in July 2019, a seven-piece capsule collection for Label/Mix for three successive and successful seasons. She has also successfully collaborated on creating sell-out one-off collections for the likes of L.K. Bennett, Monica Vinader and Kjaer Weis. Caroline has been a speaker at the World Retail Congress and Altagamma as well as a jury member for prizes such as the Hyères Festival Accessories prize, BFC NewGen Accessories Prize and Arles Photography Festival. She was External Examiner for Central Saint Martin's MA journalism and fashion promotion courses between 2015 and 2018 and currently acts as the Mentor to the graduating fashion design class at Polimoda University in Florence. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Artangel, the most innovative art not-for-profit organisation in the UK whose aim it is to provide extraordinary artistic experiences in extraordinary locations.
