I was born in China and migrated to England when I was 10. Fashion was never really a ‘thing’ when I was in China, people mainly chose clothes based on affordability and functionality. I think I am very lucky to have a multi-cultural background embedded into my personal character. Having a Chinese heritage changed the way I view fashion and western culture. As I step foot into the fashion scene, I admire the amazing craftsmanship of British tailoring; I’m into American hip-hop music and its subcultures, and of course the fashion behind them; All these aspects have contributed to the forming of myself as a designer. My graduate collection is based on my ongoing love for vintage and second-hand garments. Upcycling isn’t anything new, the sole purpose of the collection was simply to address the current ongoing issue of sustainability in the fashion industry through my lens, providing a new life to unwanted or abandoned garments in a way that is true to myself.
