In Loving Memory

I specialise in womenswear pattern cutting. My process focuses on moulage as I find this the best way of bringing my ideas to life. My final year concept is titled ‘In Loving Memory’ it is my response to losing someone incredibly close to me. It has helped me to process my grief into something productive. The main inspiration comes from cemetery statutes and Victorian mourning dress. The statues influence my moulaging through the drapery that is etched into the stone. Whereas second mourning colours of grey, lilacs and mauve, fade to white through each look in my collection. I want my work to evoke a sense of peace, which I found when visiting cemeteries.
