The inspiration behind this collection is traditional structured tribal wear (which is ideal for storage and offers coverage) and architectural frameworks in order to obtain a Men’s technical wear Collection. This final year’s work is an exploration of voids (empty space between the body and the garment). In order to understand the structure that holds the voids and to extract patterns I 3D printed miniature-size avatars (approximately 1/7th of the actual scale of 32-sized men). I sculpted the selected design silhouette on this miniature avatar using clay. Once this is semi-dried, I wrap them with clear tape. 1st layer helps holds the clay and the second layer is wrapped sticky side out and 3rd is normal to get a rigid layer for pattern drawing. Digital 3D design software such as CLO 3D & Blender, sort of bridges the miniature-scaled sculpture world to the fully scaled real-life designs. A light source is used to understand the flatness of the curves in order to obtain the pattern.
