“Consider This The Hint Of The Century” delves into the essence of the 90s, with a spotlight on 1991, the year of my birth. This journey spans from R.E.M. and the Young British Artists to the House of Beauty and Culture, merging with my personal experiences of hairiness and Pakistani culture. The aim was to celebrate the fusion of pop culture, religion, tradition, and sexuality. I combined various fabrics, embroidery, and colors with the soft tailoring silhouettes of the early 90s, drawing inspiration from both Pakistani textile techniques and Christopher Nemeth to create innovative designs. Storytelling is central to my work. I am fascinated by how an outfit can evoke a place or a moment in time, transforming one person’s story into part of someone else’s.
