MAN SS15

TOPMAN and Fashion East’s leading designer support scheme MAN returns to London Collections Men in June 2014 to showcase the most exciting new menswear talent. Established in 2005, MAN continues to champion and launch the brightest emerging designers in an unmissable group catwalk show.

For Spring / Summer 2015 Bobby Abley returns for the third season and is joined by two newcomers Liam Hodges and Nicomede Talavera. The trio follow in the footsteps of designers including J.W. Anderson, Christopher Shannon, James Long, Shaun Samson, Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen and Craig Green who all launched their brands through MAN.

BOBBY ABLEY

Brit Bobby Abley has quickly developed a loyal following with his signature pop-print sportswear and teddy-bear branding. Prior to launching his eponymous label in 2013, the young designer worked closely with designer Jeremy Scott. For AW14 his tattooed boys dressed in pink mohair shorts, glow-in-the-dark ‘DREAM ON’ slogan sweats and menacing Maleficent inspired hats. The collection is stocked internationally at Browns Focus, GR8 Japan, WildStyle LA, and Harvey Nichols Hong Kong. Fans of his playful designs include Azealia Banks, M.I.A and ASAP Rocky.

LIAM HODGES

Kent boy Liam Hodges is interested in expressive, polysyllabic masculinity: “it’s about a new luxury brand that doesn’t just cater to high borns. It’s for men who live for the week, not just the weekend”. The Royal College of Art grad debuted at Fashion East’s Installations just weeks after his standout MA show in June 2013. For AW14 he offered ‘big shapes and hard workwear silhouettes’, namely denim dungarees, gaffa-tape trimmed bombers (Drake’s a fan) and monochrome knitted trousers, presented in a roadie-inspired installation. SS15 will be his catwalk debut. Expect big things!

NICOMEDE TALAVERA

South London born Nicomede Talavera graduated from Central St Martin’s prestigious MA in 2013. His striking LCM debut at Fashion East’s AW14 Installations showcased a graphic collection that played with layered tailoring and a nod to 80s sportswear. High-collared zip up jackets, patent leather flared trousers and knee-length aprons remained light hearted with touches of mustard, mint and lilac. With an impressive roster of stockists (eg. Joyce, LN-CC, Machine-A, Comme des Garcon Trading Museum) and 4 seasons of collaborative EASTPAK bags already to his name, Nicomede’s catwalk debut is highly anticipated.
