The British Fashion Council today announces ten of London’s brightest emerging menswear talents who will receive NEWGEN MEN support, sponsored by TOPMAN, to showcase their SS15 collections at London Collections: Men, 15 - 17 June 2014.
The NEWGEN MEN committee has selected two new designers to receive sponsorship for SS15. Rising stars Alex Mullins and Craig Green will join current recipients Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen, Common, Diego Vanassibara, Kit Neale, Lee Roach, Matthew Miller and Nasir Mazhar.
Craig Green commented “It is an incredible honour to be a part of NEWGEN. The support is an incredibly valuable tool in allowing me to progress my business, for which i am very grateful.”
Alex Mullins commented "I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of NEWGEN MEN. I will be joining a long line of the UK’s most forward thinking and cutting edge designers, and it is with great pleasure to announce that I am now part of such an influential initiative. I have been overwhelmed with the support from the British Fashion Council and the NEWGEN committee, who guide with all their vast knowledge to aid the future success of their menswear designers."
All recipients receive sponsorship and showcasing opportunities at London Collections: Men, as well as tailored business and mentoring support with a view to increasing the success of their business commercially and building relationships with key press and buyers. The BFC is working with DLA Piper to provide legal and commercial advice to the designers which have been selected for NEWGEN MEN SS15.
Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the BFC, commented “NEWGEN MEN has a track record of providing emerging menswear talent with tailored business support to create the menswear stars of the future. We’re delighted to welcome Craig Green and Alex Mullins, two of London’s most exciting emerging names, to the initiative this season. Alongside the current recipients they represent a generation of extraordinary menswear talent that with continued generous support from TOPMAN are already becoming globally recognised names.”
NEWGEN MEN began in September 2009, building on TOPMAN and Fashion East’s successful MAN initiative, and has supported designers including Christopher Shannon, James Long, J.W. Anderson and Sibling. It has been instrumental in raising the profile of emerging British menswear designers, previously through Menswear Day and now using London Collections: Men as a showcasing platform to promote the breadth of London’s menswear, style and culture to a global audience.
"Yet again we are excited to welcome two new names into the NEWGEN MEN fold and particularly proud with the addition of Craig Green who both Lulu Kennedy and ourselves at TOPMAN have championed now for last 3 seasons through our MAN initiative. We really look forward to seeing how both his and Alex's creative flair and showmanship will add another new dynamic into the talented NEWGEN MEN group of designers for June." - Jason Griffiths, Marketing Director, TOPMAN
