Influencer/Talent Management

Talent managers play a crucial role in the fashion industry by being the middle person between an influencer/celebrity and a company that wants to work with them. Models, actors, photographers and social media influencers will usually take on a manager once they have achieved a certain level of success.

Managers can work freelance on their own, or as part of a larger agency. Freelance managers have more freedom to choose their clients, but will also have more risk attached to the success of their clients. Agency based agents may work across several industries or choose to specialise in one, for example; make up artists, fitness influencers or catwalk models.

Much of the work done by an agent relies on building strong relationships across the industry, with filmmakers, PRs, journalists, designers etc. so they will be keen to work more closely with the client a manager is representing. The manager will negotiate rates and contracts for their client’s jobs, as well as manage their representation when speaking with press. It is a fast-paced and varied job, juggling the needs of multiple personalities for each project so strong organisation skills and a positive outlook are essential.
