My Common People

My name is Casey Wyse, I’m a soon to be Fashion Design graduate from Birmingham City University. Through my third year I have discovered that I have a particular love for menswear. Originally for my graduate collection my design focus was on womenswear, but throughout this project I have been continually pushing the boundaries with unisex clothing which resulted in it being showcased on men. My final collection primarily features knitwear and pleats with a soft colour palette of creams and lilacs. My portfolio showcases my final graduate collection which is inspired by my nan and our heritage of a working class background. Alongside this, I was also inspired by lyrics from the band ‘pulp’. I feel I am most inspired when working with subjects such as my heritage as this allows me to have a personal touch and unique connection with my research and designs. I love expressing and telling the story of mine and my family's background.
