Conceptual womenswear designer that creates through experiences that blend into fantasies. I have a strong interest in sustainability and began the development of this collection by using reclaimed waste materials to explore ideas. I began working from a young age and I discovered balance in my own circle of interests away from work and school that led me to fashion as my medium of self-expression. I took inspiration from this sense of personal space and felt like a point of difference in my hometown, as a person of colour. I took the dual cultural perception of a magpie which was often a nickname given to me, because of to my collection of unique skills and hobbies. My collection MAGPIE became this representation of personal space and living under tension made with power mesh stretched across coated steel wires and nylon wire from garden trimmers pulling the material into ethereal forms. My concept developed from visual artists such as Rebecca Horn and found materials that I manipulated and constructed to build something fluid and beautiful. In future I look to continue my creative pursuits in design with projects in the luxury market and developing my own garments for sale.
