As a womenswear designer influenced by sportswear and contrasting themes, my collection 'Fullback' embodies two distinct aspects of my life. Drawing from my industry experience interning as a personal assistant to Creative Director and Stylist Kim Howells, I blend the refined detailing of rugby sportswear with the allure of bra silhouettes. This bold, monochromatic collection features my key wardrobe colours: pink, white, and black. Each piece is sustainably curated, utilising only deadstock and donated fabrics. The collection is profoundly influenced by my father's favourite rugby tops, reflecting our shared passion for the sport. The collection’s namesake is a play on irony. At first glance, it references the rearmost position in a game of rugby – the last line of defence. Yet, it also reflects a contrasting theme: my personal desire to wear backless or open-back garments that draw attention away from my bust, a desire that so rarely gets to come to full fruition. This silhouette is heavily inspired by Vikki Dougan, famously known as "the back," whose allure and sensuality were epitomised by her iconic open-back dresses.
