My name is Londinjana Samanta Kuka, and I am a 2024 graduate in Fashion, Textiles & Design specialising in knitwear. From an early age, I have been captivated by the transformative power of textiles, which led me to pursue a career in fashion design. Throughout my academic journey, I have showcased my talents in numerous prestigious competitions such as ‘Alter Eco,’ the ‘Bradford Competition,’ the ‘Tex+’ and the ‘Colour Prizes’ provided by ‘The Worshipful Company of Dyers.’ These experiences have honed my ability to work under pressure and adapt my style to diverse project demands. One of my earliest final major projects, where I experimented with paper woven to behave like fabric, was a pivotal moment in my development as a designer. This project taught me the importance of creative experimentation and significantly influenced my current style. I strive to tailor each piece to the individual, making fashion a deeply personal experience. My designs are meticulously considered, from colour and texture to feel and shape, ensuring that every garment tells a unique story. Over the past few years, I have been committed to focus on developing ready-to-wear collections that embody my vision and individuality. My work is enriched by an understanding of the semiotics of fashion, where every choice carries significance and contributes to the narrative of the garment. Draping is a technique central to my design philosophy, enables me to breathe life into textiles and transform them into dynamic, expressive garments. Eager to bring my vision and expertise to the industry, I am dedicated to pushing the boundaries of fashion. My commitment and meticulous attention to detail, innovative use of materials, make me an ideal candidate for leading roles in the fashion industry. I am not just a designer; I am a visionary artist dedicated to redefining the future of fashion.
