During my first and second year at Nottingham Trent University I was able to develop my texture and textiles skill. I gained confidence with using multiple colours and different types of yarn while keeping my garment shapes and silhouettes simple to maximise and showcase the development of the textiles. Also, through private tutoring I was able to further my CAD skills by becoming proficient in CLO 3D. With my placement year, my experience and love for couture garments blossomed from the time I spent working with the Julian MacDonald team. I was able to learn techniques and knit patterns that were previously unknown to me, allowing my imagination to flourish with a plethora of potential Textiles and fabrics. The COVID – 19 pandemic reinforced these unique ideas as through the world going through a massive technology only period, this inspired me to find a way to integrate the couture level knits that I had learnt and developed myself with innovative technologies to create fabrics of the future.
