Supremacy of Freedom

My design journey began with practical deliberation rather than a whimsical dream. In 2019, as I chose my uni course, I carefully considered my future. With a strong background in art, I naturally gravitated towards continuing the arts. Social media introduced me to stylish celebrities whose distinct fashion choices caught my eye. This exposure sparked the development of my personal style, characterized by a neutral, relaxed aesthetic. My diverse personal experiences have profoundly shaped my worldview. I spent my early years in a developing city in China, moved to Hong Kong with my family for four years, and later relocated to the UK, where I completed my GCSEs, A-levels, and university education. These varied environments have honed my adaptability and broadened my perspective. Living apart from my family in structured educational settings cultivated a blend of independence and caution in me. Raised by traditional Chinese parents with rigid rules and strong stereotypes, I was initially molded into an obedient daughter and diligent student. But as I grew older, I yearned for freedom and autonomy—to chart my own course within the boundaries of personal morality and societal laws. This project captures my spiritual journey, from a regimented life to a deliberate pursuit of possibilities, while cultivating a relaxed disposition toward the unknown. It is the beginning of my true self-expression. Graduation is not the end of my learning journey but the start of deeper self-discovery. I aim to communicate my authentic self, express my creative visions, and pursue my interests independently, free from external influences. This collection centers around creating garments that seamlessly blend aesthetics, playfulness, and meaning without compromising functionality. In essence, the collection advocates for the freedom to choose one's path, emphasizing the abundance of possibilities.
