This collection begins with the horseshoe, a symbol of luck and protection in both Indian and Western cultures, bridging the gap between these disparate traditions. It boldly reimagines traditional Indian garment archetypes, challenging the conservative notions of femininity typically associated with them. At the core of this fusion is the saari, ingeniously combined with elements from cowboy culture—a symbol of hyper-masculinity in the west. This is brought out through the combination of unexpected materials, archetypes, and drapes, adding a contemporary twist to a collection that is inherently rooted in Indian culture. The hybrid silhouettes combine lightweight sheer fabrics with leather, shirts with Saaris, and cowboy fringing to play on ‘modern and traditional’, as well as ‘masculine and feminine’ dynamics.
