Ethiopian Summer [Resort Collection] marries my Ethiopian heritage with a profound love of the beach, to create a vibrant and culturally rich line bridging tradition and modernity. The colour pallet is inspired by Ethiopia's natural beauty with hues of deep ochre, indigo, and green, interspersed with the sandy neutrals of a serene coastline. The collection uses natural walnut dye for its enriching and earthy warmth, to further echo the landscape. Inspiration is also drawn from childhood beach photos, taken on family trips to Africa. The collection is further defined by its experimental drape inspired by traditional Ethiopian wear. This technique is culturally rooted in Ethiopian draped garments such as the Shamma and Habesha Kemis. Here they are reimagined to create fluid and voluminous lines that move with the body in dynamic relation to the sea. Procion dye screen printing creates bold and saturated prints and vibrant long-lasting colour, for sun-soaked days and cool coastal evenings.
