Raised in Shanghai, SHIXIN GE was surrounded by rich cultural influences. His early
fascination with Chinese culture, sparked by his grandparents' artifacts and his mother's
calligraphy lessons, led him to study calligraphy for over a decade. This deep immersion in
traditional art fostered a profound appreciation for Chinese aesthetics.
SHIXIN attended an international high school in Shanghai, which nurtured his interest in
diverse artistic disciplines. His passion for blending cultural elements inspired him to
pursue a design career. In 2019, he moved to London to study at the University of the Arts
London, earning a Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design with a focus on Design
for Theatre, Screen, and Performance. He is currently working towards a BA in Fashion
Design Technology: Menswear at the London College of Fashion, where he has honed
skills in tailoring, pattern making, draping, and sewing. He integrates Chinese cultural
elements, like tie-dye and batik, into his designs, creating unique, culturally rich pieces.
SHIXIN plans to launch its brand, SHIXIN GE, which will combine traditional Eastern
elements with contemporary Western styles. The brand emphasizes sustainability, quality,
and cultural fusion, producing small-batch, high-craftsmanship garments using innovative
textiles. Leveraging social media platforms like Instagram and Xiaohongshu, SHIXIN GE
will build a community around the brand, focusing on fashion stores, showrooms, and popup
shops to establish a presence.
