The Birth of Panehsy

Eva Hluchan’s collection symbolises a New Age - fusing architectural influences from two periods of dynamic change, inspired by her fascination for the 1930s Art Deco movement and 1960s modernism. Taking inspiration from icons of futurism such as the Chrysler Building and designers such as Tullio Crali and Giacomo Balla, this collection explores organic structured shapes and forms, reinventing silhouette through innovative pattern cutting and construction. At the core of the collection sits the wistful spirit of The Great Gatsby’s Daisy Buchanan prophesising the 60s youthquake, a synthesis which is captured through the application of aged wools alongside shiny silk dupions and rust orange taffeta. Referencing the bold shapes of future-thinkers such as Pierre Cardin, Isabel Toledo and Cristobal Balenciaga, the collection challenges traditional bespoke tailoring techniques. Focused on graphic silhouettes achieved through meticulous craftsmanship, the collection lays the foundations for Eva’s ambitions to work with bespoke tailoring and product development after graduation.
