Isolation Fosters Creativity

Charlotte Ellen Gibson

Location: Bedworth, UK
University/College: Coventry University Specialisms: Knitwear, Textiles, Sustainable Fashion design
Charlotte has focused in her final year on developing her story telling through design and visual communication. Her strongest skills reside in photography, videography and video editing, through which she has created a strong online media presence to back her final graduating collection. Collaborating upcycling techniques whilst marring old fabrics with new, incorporating print, and combining her own personal love of knit and crochet, Charlotte’s collection is inspired by her own personal experience during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is designed to be a celebration of resilience and resourcefulness in a time of immense difficulty. During her final year, Charlotte has not only balanced 2 social media jobs, but was one of the winners of the GFW x UNTAGGED competition, and then went on to win the Coventry University Drapers Award shortly after. She was one of the few in her cohort selected to debut her collection on the GFW runway the June before graduating. Above all else Charlotte has been avidly invested and committed to her practise and has given everything she can to make the most of her final year which will undoubtedly reflect on her future.
