Brutalist Beauty

This project is based on 1980’s tower blocks such as the Barbican. Focusing on the pattern hidden in architecture and using this to create a collection that plays with clashing patterns and maximalism, changing the way we view buildings with this project by incorporating perspective to distort how we see patterns. using the reflection of windows added colour into this collection making it playful and bright to contrast the buildings dull colour palette. Challenging to make this collection produce less the 5% waste helps tackle textiles waste through this project. To help highlight this, packaging of the garments and swing tags including information about waste and how to help reduce textile waste has aided in getting the message across. The project is called Brutalist Beauty is to show the beauty in brutalism, adding colour and pattern clashing to show the unexpected details in the buildings around us, showing that we can create a playful but serious society using colour.
