Menswear fashion designer with keen interest in the art of sewing, pattern cutting, upcycling and both paper and digital drawing. While I enjoy the creative aspects of fashion design, I am equally enthusiastic about the technicalities involved in garment construction. My fascination with the details of this process drives me to explore various techniques and tools to enhance my designs. The aim of my Final Major Project was to produce a menswear catwalk collection of 6 outfits heavily influenced by the ability to embrace the worn-out and distressed look of old or already used garments and fabric as well as using variety of repair techniques such as patchwork, darning or mending. There were loads of upcycling and reconstruction involved and the whole collection was inspired by imperfections of fabric and getting the most out of the fabric and clothes that are already existing and making the otherwise destroyed or damaged garments wearable while elevating the rough and deteriorated aesthetic. Biggest part of my collection is sustainability and reusing old garments. Not only it is more eco-friendly but something that already has its story and wear to it makes it more interesting to me rather than brand new fabrics. Since I started making clothes, I was interested in messier looks rather than clean cuts and silhouettes. Techniques like distressing and patchwork were familiar to me since day one. Using these techniques in the past made me confident to represent them as main feature of my final collection alongside other techniques such as fabric dyeing and using mending/darning to repair clothes. I enjoy this style of clothes in my personal wardrobe, so keeping it closely tied to my personal style and taste was important to me.
