'Moment to Arise' is a menswear collection that draws inspiration from the interplay between the human form and bedding, offering a unique blend of comfort and security during times of global uncertainty. Employing a multi-layered pattern cutting technique that traverses both 2D and 3D methodologies, the collection utilises experimental draping of bedding materials on both mannequins and bodies to spark design concepts and shapes. These ideas are then translated into garments through subtraction cutting methods, merging with conventional blocks to create avant-garde silhouettes reminiscent of bedding features, all while maintaining functionality and wearability inherent to menswear. Advancing this approach involves the use of half-scale toiles, digital pattern manipulation on Lectra software, and prototyping designs in Clo3D to streamline workflows for sustainability and waste reduction. A muted colour palette is employed to accentuate garment silhouettes, highlighting drapes and folds with delicate finishes like ties and buttons, complemented by the use of natural fibres such as cotton and linen to mirror bedding intricacies.
